Daily inspection, charging, cleaning, reporting damage.
Overview
Proper care and maintenance ensure optimal performance, extended device life, and operator safety.
1. Daily Inspection
At the start of each shift:

Verify full battery charge.

Inspect lenses for soot or scratches.

Check cable connections and helmet mount security.
-
Power on device to confirm system readiness.
2. Post-Use Cleaning

Power off and remove Navigator from helmet.

Brush away dry debris using a soft cloth or non-abrasive brush.

Clean with mild soap and water solution or approved fire-service wipes.
-
Do not submerge device or use compressed air.
-
Dry with a soft lint-free towel.
3. Lens & HUD Cleaning
If moisture or soot buildup occurs:

Wipe facepiece → projector lens → HUD lens → camera lens (in this order).

Reposition HUD to restore image.
-
Allow device to air dry before storage.
4. Battery & Charging

Use only approved C-THRU chargers.
-
Rotate batteries to ensure equal usage.
-
Store batteries at room temperature; avoid prolonged heat exposure.

Replace any battery showing swelling or charge failure.
5. Storage

Store devices in protective cases, away from heat or contaminants.

Disconnect cables when not in use.
-
Keep moisture-sensitive components in a clean, dry environment.
6. Damage Reporting
Any damage, malfunction, or missing component must be reported immediately to the Company Officer and logged with the Training Division.
Summary
Routine inspection and cleaning are part of operational discipline.
A maintained device is a reliable tool—an unmaintained one is a liability.
